What is WK Intergroup?
In our area, largely rural and of small to medium size towns, there are functions common to all AA groups which are best handled by a centralized entity. Our Intergroup is a partnership among the Western Kentucky AA groups – just as an AA group is a partnership of individuals. It exists to aid our regional groups in their common purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers by establishing an Intergroup under suggestions in traditions 8 & 9.
The purpose of the Western Kentucky Intergroup shall be to aid the groups in their purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers. The Intergroup shall be maintained, supervised and supported by the groups and/or individual AA members to carry out certain functions common to all group functions which are best handled by a centralized AA entity (‘functions’ as outlined in the GSO Guidelines and the Service Manual). The Intergroup may function as a clearinghouse for circulation and exchange of information among all the AA groups in Western Kentucky.
I am responsible….
When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there.
And for that: I am responsible.
The model for our Western Kentucky Intergroup was drawn from the vast experience accumulated by over 500 Intergroups and Central Offices functioning throughout the world. This experience is published by our General Service Office in the document “AA Guidelines – Central Offices or Intergroups” and other service material.
